I’m an Ontario teacher with a few things on my mind. It occurred to me one day that while there are thousands of blogs for teaching resources, there seem to be few for the greatest teaching asset of all: our mental health.
My posts are satirical (and I’ll admit, hyperbolic at times) and are intended to reflect what we’re all thinking and feeling at times in a humourous way. Just because we’re expected to be superhuman doesn’t mean we’re not still human.
I absolutely love teaching. Enough to write a blog all about it.
Please don’t take my opinions too seriously. They are just opinions, after all.
And please feel free to correct any grammatical mistakes, typos, or general inaccuracies that you notice! If I agree with you that it’s a mistake I’ll fix it. I’m definitely not perfect. But don’t do it in a self-aggrandizing way. That’s just annoying. You don’t want to be that person. Life should be about making each other better, not making ourselves better at each other’s expense.
Finally, if you aren’t cultured in classic rock, the site name comes from the Pink Floyd song, “Another Brick in the Wall”:
We don’t need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! teachers! leave the kids alone!
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall.
